Political Advocacy

As member owners, each person that belongs to a credit union has a vested interest in their financial institution.  We've created this section to keep credit union members aware of important legislative matters that can have a negative impact on the credit union movement.

All Arizona credit unions, along with The Arizona Credit Union League, need to take steps to protect, promote and perpetuate the credit union movement and the best way to do so is to make sure credit unions have a voice in Phoenix and Washington, D.C.

At the Arizona State Legislature the main objectives are:

  • Protect credit unions from legislation that could negatively impact credit unions.
  • Educate lawmakers on the credit union difference.
  • Support bills that would remove any unnecessary burden on credit unions.
  • Educate lawmakers on our financial literacy programs.
  • Keep credit unions visible at the Capitol

In Congress the main objectives are:

  • Remove restrictions on small business lending, which would generate over $10 billion in new loans to small businesses.
  • Protect members from increased interchange fees, by keeping the current system.
  • Educate lawmakers on our financial literacy programs.
  • Keep credit unions visible at the U.S. Capitol.
